Hello! I’m Lise. I was born and bred in France, I now live in Canada, and I love both History and histories…
Like most authors, I spent my childhood reading. I mean… A LOT! I was the exact cliché of the little girl reading up to 3 or 4 in the morning, hidden under her blanket with a flashlight to avoid her parents surveillance… 😉
Soon enough, I felt like writing. I was 14 when I spontaneously wrote the continuation of a movie I saw, not knowing that what I was doing was called a fanfiction. With time, I wrote more and more, both original stories or fanfictions. Some of them are still available on fanfiction.net or Wattpad, but sadly for you they are in french ! 😉
My very first novel, La cantatrice, was published in 2011 by a Canadian editor. I tell in two volumes the incredible destiny of Emma Albani, a real opera singer who was famous at the end of the 19th century. She was one of the biggest stars of her time!
My second novel, Les filles de joie, was published soon after by the same editor. This trilogy describes the life of Victoire, a young prostitute working in a brothel, still at the end of the 19h century.
In 2019, I decided to self-publish my new baby, La renaissance de Pemberley, which is a continuation of the very well known Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
This adventure began as a small fanfiction that I started to write in 2008 and that I… never achieved. However, deep within me I knew that I would come back to that story one day, and that’s what I finally did, even if it was 10 years later! I have no regret as the small fanfiction has matured and developed to become a full historical novel respectful of Jane Austen’s work.
Good news for you ! That novel is presently translated by a professional translator and will be available in english in June 2020 !
Today, thanks to all those years of writing and historical researches, I want to share what I learned about that fascinating 19th century.
My blog is in french only (sorry for that ! not enough time to do it in both languages 🙁 ) and I publish a new article every wednesday. I wish it can give some keys to understand a bit better the novels, movies or tv shows on that period, especially for the french people who doesn’t know very well the specificities of the British culture.
Thanks for visiting !
You can contact me anytime through the comments, email or social networks.
I speak both french and english and I’ll be happy to hear from you! 🙂
